Founders Club at Pawleys Island

Founders Club at Pawleys Island

Founders Club offers players a challenging shotmaker’s 18-hole experience on the south end of Myrtle Beach in Pawleys Island, the U.S.'s earliest beach resort.

Thomas Walker, a former lead designer for Gary Player Design, completely renovated and modernized this fourth oldest Myrtle Beach golf course originally designed by Gene Hamm. The seven million dollar project included course redesign and included a new Lowcountry-style clubhouse. A flat landscape, which was once part of the original golf course, has been replaced by elevation changes, bunkers, and sloping fairways. Strategy is the name of the game at Founders Club - this course is designed for the thinking golfer.

Founders Club is known as an “ocean-style golf course” with natural beach sand filling the waste areas and native grasses populating the layout. One unique feature of this golf course is that golfers are not restricted to cart path and, instead, “ride the dunes”!

Welcoming lounges for women and men and a well-stocked pro shop round out the Founders Club golf experience.

Course is in rough shape right now. Not much grass on fairways and way too many bad spots on the greens for this time of year when most courses are in great shape. Layout is nice and the staff are very good. Hopefully the course can be improved soon.

Disappointed.Reviews were from 2018. Staff courteous and friendly, tees well manicured. Fairways very dry and limited grass compared to other clubs. Greens were mediocre with some die out in parts. Waste bunkers were a different challenge. Not sure it should be rated in top 25

It was a pleasant day of golf. Most greens in decent shape, better than last year.

Not my favorite course but fair. Waste bunkers are not my favorite.

I like the design of the course, it is very challenging and the undulating greens are very nice. you need good chipping to have a good score.

Greens are in very good shape but course needs some work.

the greens were aerated several days before I played. I knew that when I booked and still had an enjoyable round.
